?FBI Profiler Terry McCaleb (Clint Eastwood) and LAPD Detective Ronoldo Arrango (Paul Rodriguez) pursue a serial killer dubbed the Code Killer who leaves coded crime scene messages for McCaleb. McCaleb collapses with a heart attack while chasing the killer, who is wounded, but escapes. In desperate need of a heart transplant, but with a very rare blood type, McCaleb retires and waits for two years before a suitable donor heart is available. While still recovering from the transplant surgery McCaleb discovers the donor is a murder victim. The victim’s sister, Graciella Rivers (Wanda DeJesus), convinces McCaleb to search for the woman’s killer. McCaleb recruits his neighbor, Buddy Noone (Jeff Daniels) to help him investigate. McCaleb discovers a second victim and begins searching for a serial killer. Looking for a connection between the two victims, McCaleb discovers that they share the same blood type. McCaleb finally cracks the code identifying the killer, but must rescue Ms. Rivers, whom the killer has kidnapped.
